FAQ

What are your fees?
The fees for the 2018-2019 school year are £12.00 per 3 hour session. The lunch club is £2 per day. Find out more about our sessions and prices here…

What government funding am I entitled to?
Snowy’s is registered to provide funded care to 3 and 4 year olds. Through this scheme, children are entitled to a maximum of 5 free sessions a week (term time only), from the start of the term after his/her third birthday. These 5 sessions may be claimed from up to 2 providers, not just Snowy’s.

Some 2 year olds are also entitled to funded care – please ask a member of staff for more details. Alternatively, click here for more information from gov.uk on help with childcare costs.

What are the term dates?
We follow the same terms dates as Brundall Primary School – see Snowy’s Nursery and Pre-School Term Dates for details.

What hours are you open?
The morning session runs from 8:45am to 11:45am, and the afternoon session runs from 12:15pm to 3:15pm. Our lunch club runs from 11:45am to 12:15pm. We are open Monday to Friday, during term time only.

When is the earliest drop off time?
The drop off time is 8:45am for the morning session and 12:15pm for the afternoon session.

What is the latest pick up time?
The pick up time is 11:45am for the morning session and 3:15pm for the afternoon session. Children can stay for lunch club after the morning session (subject to the charges detailed above), and be picked up at 12.15pm.

Where should I park?
Snowy’s has adopted the same practices as nearby Brundall School. Due to limited parking, we ask that as many families as possible (and staff) walk to Braydeston Avenue.

Should families have to drive, we ask that you park your car away from Snowy’s. There is car parking a few minutes walk away and you and your child will benefit from a breath of fresh air before a session.

What should my child bring to Snowy’s each day?
Please bring:
a change of clothes
nappies and wipes (if required)
a named water bottle
sunhat and sunscreen in the summer
a warm/waterproof coat and wellies

What will my child do at Snowy’s?
Snowy’s always provides a safe and stimulating environment. We have a wide range of high-quality resources available to all children. We organise our sessions so that the children can choose from, and work at, a range of activities and, in doing so, build up their ability to select and work through a task to its completion. The children are also helped and encouraged to take part in adult-led small and large group activities, which introduce them to new experiences and help them to gain new skills, as well as helping them to learn to work with others.

Outdoor activities contribute to children’s health, their physical development and their knowledge of the world around them. The children have the opportunity and are encouraged, to take part in outdoor child-chosen and adult-led activities, as well as those provided in the indoor playroom.

Your child will be given a diary that will be filled in each day so you know what activities your child has been involved in each day.

Can my child bring personal belongings?
We understand that bringing a special teddy or blanket from home can help a child to settle, and we are happy to work with your child on this. Other personal belongings can be brought in, but we cannot be held responsible for any loss or damage to toys, books, etc. brought in from home.

Do you offer a lunch club and/or holiday cover?
Snowy’s is a term time only setting and we do not offer any childcare during the school holidays. We do offer a lunch club that allows your child to stay for both morning and afternoon sessions, so from 8:45am to 3:15pm. A healthy packed lunch will need to be provided. Please note that we are a nut-free setting.

Who can collect my child?
We will only release your child to you or someone you have nominated to collect them. If someone other than you is collecting your child, please let your child’s key person know. We will ask you to provide a password that is held in your child’s secure file to be requested from anyone collecting your child who is not known to Snowy’s staff.

What if my child is unwell?
If your child needs to be given any prescribed medicines within a session in your absence, you must complete an Administration of Medicines form, available from any member of staff. Please hand this completed form, plus the medication to your child’s key person for safekeeping.

Snowy’s staff are obliged to follow LEA guidelines for various illnesses and diseases, a copy of which is available in each classroom. As a rule, this means that your child must remain at home for 48 hours after a flu or stomach bug, to minimise such illnesses spreading to other children and staff. Session fees remain payable when your child is unable to attend.

Should your child become ill within a session, we will treat him/her and contact you and you may be asked to collect them early.

Does my child have to wear a uniform?
Your child does not have to wear a uniform, but many of our children do like to wear a Snowy’s t-shirt and/or sweatshirt. You can take advantage of our registration offer when your child starts, which includes a Snowy’s t-shirt and bag for £10. Alternatively, t-shirts can be purchased for £6, sweatshirts for £9 and bags for £5.50. Please speak to a member of staff if you are interested in purchasing any uniform.

What food and drink should my child bring?
Please bring a named water bottle into Snowy’s for each session, which the staff can refill as required. Please note that we can only accept water in these bottles.

Your child is welcome to join us for Lunch Club from 11.45am to 12.15pm (charges payable – please see attached sheet). We encourage healthy packed lunches to ensure that children receive nutritious food that will aid their learning and development during the rest of the day.

Ideas for a healthy lunchbox include:
sandwiches with a healthy filling
fruit and/or vegetables (e.g. cherry tomatoes, carrot sticks, cucumber)
milk-based desserts (e.g. yoghurt or fromage frais)
a small treat, at your discretion (e.g. biscuit, little cake, packet of crisps – but no sweets please)
we can supply water or milk for the children to drink, otherwise please supply your own drink.
Please note that we are a nut-free setting.

Please include an ice pack to keep food cool as we have insufficient fridge space for packed lunches

Do you provide a snack during the day?
We provide a range of snacks such as fruit, vegetables and savoury biscuits, with a choice of either milk or water to drink – please see our daily menu board. Snowy’s makes snack time a social time at which children eat together in small groups, chatting with each other and with staff members.
