Squirrels
Our nursery room is designed to create a calming and nurturing environment to inspire little minds.
Squirrels are full of energy and cheerfulness as they develop their creative and inquisitive minds by discovering the world around them. At this key developmental stage, we encourage children to independently explore. Our staff support this through play, fun activities and the children’s individual interests.
Our focus is learning through play. The children have access to a variety of activities and throughout the day will participate in group yoga sessions, cooking, music and singing and storytelling. The room offers different areas for children to explore including a home corner, cosy reading snug, mess play, small world play and daily outdoor activities including sand, water and mud kitchen play.
The nursery routine provides lots of opportunities to introduce counting, colour and shape, name recognition, taking turns, sharing and being kind. We work within a language rich environment with lots of focus on speech and communication.
We also begin to prepare them for their adventure into the pre-school room by encouraging them to develop their independence through finding their name pegs, coats and hats and taking off their shoes and by choosing their own activity to explore helping develop key cognitive, language and social skills.
